Mareike Meise
After several years of training in the Bavarian Philharmonic’s children’s choir, Mareike founded her first a cappella ensemble whilst still at school. In 2005, she joined the Harmunichs. For more than five years, she has been one of the Harmunichs’ vocal teachers, responsible for warm-ups and vocal training, and has been teaching new chorus members the intricacies of the barbershop style. In 2020, she founded the women’s a cappella chorus A Cappella Company in Dachau.
As a coach, Mareike focuses on bringing out an authentic performance and the unique sound of your ensemble. She places particular emphasis on the distinctive features of the English language and their impact on vocal freedom. This is because the way we Germans have learnt English and imitate American pronunciation can have either a positive or a limiting effect on the sound and overtone spectrum of the voice, as well as on the ensemble’s sound and synchronisation.
